El Parque Natural de Los Haitises es un lugar de ensueño donde puedes desconectar de la rutina y adentrarte en la naturaleza. Situado en la costa noreste de República Dominicana, es un tesoro que te ofrece una experiencia única.

El Parque Natural Los Haitises es un verdadero paraíso para los amantes de la naturaleza y los aventureros como tú. Te mostramos algunas de las actividades que puedes realizar durante tu visita.
Ir a las cascadas naturales
Hay varias cascadas en el parque, pero la más famosa es la cascada El Limón, que tiene una altura de 52 metros. Para llegar a ella, puedes hacer una caminata de una hora desde el pueblo del mismo nombre, El Limón, o dar un paseo en caballo.
Otras famosas son la de Salto Alto y la de Salto del Guayabo. El recorrido a pie hacia estas es más exigente, pero vale la pena por la belleza natural que encontrarás. Si te animas a hacerlo al más puro estilo Indiana Jones, te recomendamos llevar calzado cómodo y protector solar, ya que el camino puede ser largo y el sol puede ser duro con tu piel.

La zona es famosa por sus cuevas con arte rupestre. Fueron utilizadas por los taínos, los antiguos habitantes de la isla, y contienen una gran cantidad de petroglifos y pictografías. La cueva de la Arena es una de las más populares para visitar, ya que es fácilmente accesible desde el puerto de Sabana de la Mar.

Esta zona tiene gran variedad de aves y su observación es un auténtico placer. Algunas de ellas son endémicas de la República Dominicana. Entre las más comunes se encuentran el pelícano, la garza, el pato y el cormorán. También puedes ver rapaces, como el halcón peregrino y el gavilán, y pájaros migratorios de vez en cuando en rutas a otros lugares.
Te recomendamos tener unos prismáticos para poder observar las aves de la zona de la mejor manera junto con un guía. Y, sobre todo, es importante respetar la tranquilidad de los animales y no hacer ruidos que puedan ahuyentarles.
Flora y fauna que se puede ver
Estás ante un lugar privilegiado en términos de biodiversidad. La flora y fauna del lugar es rica y variada, con especies que solo se encuentran en esta zona del país. Entre las más destacadas que podrás ver se encuentran la iguana rinoceronte, el murciélago pescador y el manatí.
Entre los tipos de árboles y plantas, cabe destacar el mangle rojo, el mangle negro y el cedro.

Durante el verano, las lluvias son más frecuentes, pero esto puede hacer que el paisaje sea aún más impresionante. Si visitas el parque durante esta estación, te recomendamos llevar ropa y calzado que se puedan mojar, así como un impermeable.
